Mary O'Hagen steps down after a huge contribution

Wellington, June 19 NZPA - Mental Health Commissioner Mary O'Hagan has resigned.

Ms O'Hagan has written to Health Minister Pete Hodgson informing him of her resignation on July 27.

Commission chair Ruth Harrison said since Ms O'Hagan's appointment in 2000, the Commission, the mental health sector and people who used services had benefited from her leadership.

Ms O'Hagan would return to her consultancy work.
