NZPA - Two Ministry of Health advertising campaigns aimed at reducing discrimination and increasing support for people with mental illness have been honoured.

The campaigns, the Lowdown and Like Minds, Like Mine won gold at last night's EFFIE advertising awards.
The EFFIE awards recognise effectiveness in advertising and are presented jointly by the Association of New Zealand Advertisers, TVNZ, and Communication Agencies Association of New Zealand.

The Lowdown (www.thelowdown.co.nz) won gold in the social marketing public service category. The Lowdown is an interactive website for young people, providing information and online support for depression.

The Like Minds, Like Mine campaign which has been running for eleven years aims to challenge the stigma and discrimination associated with mental illness.  It was awarded the Grand EFFIE for sustained success.
