The main aim of Creating HOPE (Health through Online Peer Support and Education) was to create an online community for those affected (individuals and family) by bipolar disorder or depression so that people can and will in the future continue to be able to readily access peer support.
The Creating HoPE project was a collaboration between Balance NZ, KIWIWEBS and other partner organisations and was funded primarily by the Digital Strategy - Community Partnership Fund (CPF) and many more in-kind donations of time, resources and additional sponsorship.
A portal type website was developed using a health promotion framework as a resource primarily for those with lived experience of mood disorder, and their families and friends. The website contains sections on information and support, links to online forum type support groups, and a searchable mood disorder reference database. The main site links to an e-learning site on which interactive online courses are facilitated.
